Director of Performance

ZACH DECHANT

"Zach has been in place since 2008 at TCU and is the current Assistant Athletic Director of Human Performance. He oversees the development of Baseball. Alongside those priorities he also handles the development and implementation of the TCU Sports Performance Internship Program that has been in place for over 15 years. Over that time the internship program has encompassed 40+ semesters and 250+ intern coaches that have moved on to all levels of professional, collegiate, high school, and private strength and conditioning.

During baseball off-seasons, Coach Dechant trains a group of 30+ current MLB / MiLB Frogs. The pro Frogs spend 4 months back on campus training for the upcoming season.

Previous experience to TCU has included two seasons with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, two years at Missouri State University, as well as time spent with the University of Washington as an intern.

Zach graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Health and Wellness from Missouri State University in 2003.

Baseball Performance

The Baseball Performance Plan at ISP takes our sports performance training a step further by building individualized monthly throwing plans based on velocity development or mechanical adjustments. The goal of this program is to identify key weaknesses in the athletes’ movement patterns and to develop a plan to attack these areas. By doing so, our goal is to not only enhance performance, but more importantly help reduce the risk of injury.

At ISP, we focus on developing athletes of all sports in order to maximize their potential on and off the field. Our unique program includes instruction in movement training, injury reduction and rehabilitation, linear and lateral speed techniques, foot speed and agility, explosive power development, proper functional strength training, as well as nutritional counseling.
